Danny Phantom was a very popular cartoon, it followed the adventures of a teen boy who becomes a ghost after entering a strange portal his parents (both ghost hunters) left around. The series follows Danny battling ghosts and villains that come directly from the ghost zone.

Oddly enough, this cool and hip action cartoon was mostly popular among girls, probably due to Danny's good looks, the abundance of strong and well defined female characters as well as some good ships that undoubtedly must have captivated the preteen mind.
With that amount of popularity, comes a great deal of fanart, this time we have a female version of Danny Phantom, named Dani, created by the animator and artist Amethyst Ocean, who has been working on this Dani project for a long time. You can see her newly animated remake of the intro here:
It is interesting how they stuck to the original intro lyrics instead of adapting them for the female lead, which isn't a problem, I am sure it would have been a lot of work. It is also interesting how they remade the typical “shoved in a locker” prank, even with the female characters, a type of bullying that isn't really seen much in media with girls.
Also, some people think they should have made the female version of Dash have a similar bodytime to her male counterpart, kind of how they did with Dani's parents, which wouldn't be bad, but this swap is clearly a cheerleader, an equivalent of a jock in the typical American high school setting, so it works just as well.
Either way, a lot of the isues with the original show probably would have been less of a problem if they made Danny a girl, the more female leads in action cartoons, the better. The genderbended designs seen here are also incredibly well made and perhaps better than the originals.
