This unexpected henchwoman is a villainess seen in the 1994 movie version of Double Dragon, unlike Marian, she is a character seen in the actual videogame where she attacked you with her signature weapon.
Linda in the videogame. |
In this iteration she's played by the beautiful Kristina Wagner and is the personal bodyguard of Koga, the megalomaniac millionaire bad guy in the film. She controls two lesser henchmen and goes out on missions to serve Koga's needs.
The very first time we see her she's in China, on an assignment that involves stealing the mystical double dragon medallion, at least one half of it, for her boss. At the beginning of the scene she has her face covered and uses her lash in order to defeat some enemies. She's immediately shown to be ruthless and skilled in combat. Her face is revealed once she finds her object and notifies her boss about it.

Face reveal. |
Maybe the director wanted to hide the fact that she was a woman? Perhaps to create mystery? I still don't know why it was done this way, it's kind of obvious as soon as you see her anyways.
The rest of the picture she aids Koga in his search for the second half of the medallion and mostly serves her function as a secondary goon but she actually has some highlights, such as when she discovers the kids in the ventilation shaft and uses a spear to bring them down, she proceeds to fight Marian's dad (the police officer) and later engages in a cool fight against Marian. With the help of Billy, the punk rebel girl cuts off Linda's lash and punches her, Linda is then tied up with her own whip and is punched once more for comedic effect. She's out of the picture after that, not even showing up during the obligatory "arrest of the bad guys” scene at the end.
Perhaps the lash is a sexual component in this teen film? |
She fights dirty too. |
A fun character with a composed and tactical front but couldn't help to think that she also has a psychotic and savage side underneath that enjoys inflicting pain to others.
Linda's crazy eyes. |
About to whip the living hell out of Marian. |
That's probably why she uses such an unusual weapon as a whip, a close and upfront weapon that satisfies her sadistic side, as opposed to a gun or something. Kind of an interesting henchwoman.
