Valeria from Conan the Barbarian (1982)

The hugely enjoyable John Millius version of Conan released in 1982 is one of the few great adaptations of the character, but it wouldn't be a great Conan story without the amazing Valeria, member of The Red Brotherhood of Pirates and skilled with swords.

Here, the character is played by the beautiful Sandahl Bergman, who brings a whole new energy and carefree personality to Valeria.

Some of the highlights are her first introduction and the sequence in the temple of the serpent and the female sacrifices that take place there.

A strong and pretty warrior that can stand on her own against Conan and his male companions. As brutal as any other fighter. I consider Valeria to be a great female lead in eighties fantasy films. Surely she inspired more good female swordswomen in sword and sorcery fiction.
