Wonder Woman (1942): The original run (Part 2)

This second issue presents us with an interesting story titled The God of War, about the capture of Steve Trevor by Mars. The american flies over his planet while on a secret mission and gets kidnapped, because of this, Wonder Woman decides to rescue him by passing off as a martian slave girl.

By the end of the story, Mars fails and Wonder Woman leaves the planet victorious along with Steve. The villain makes a henchman recruit Hitler to aid him, something that develops into a crammed plot to destroy Wonder Woman, who soon escapes and defeats the martian lackeys. I must say that at this point, every character has been tied up and gagged multiple times. The author's not-so-secret fetish peeks its head even more in this issue. Something that would only continue to happen in future comics, there are many prisoner women, hostages or just tied down girls with ropes.

Hitler has a cameo.

Prisoners of Mars.

Eventually, Wonder Woman and Mars have a hand to hand battle. The male warrior ends up falling on some explosives and blows up a huge part of the city. Wonder Woman and her friends escape and are received on earth as heroes.

An entertaining edition, even though it's a bit convoluted and with too much text to be fun all throughout, but it handles itself quite decently.
