Dirty Pair (1985) Retrospective - Episode 23: Uncertainty...? Our Magnificent Revenge

We begin with the girls in their tactical suits infiltrating into the compound of a kingpin named Mahogany, who is developing a new drug. As they are about to enter the building, the girls are told by their superior to abort the mission. Suddenly, they are discovered and attacked. Yuri is wounded and her vehicle is shot down.

An injured Yuri manages to jump into a fountain and she then encounters an unknown man who kisses her in order to lower suspicion from a guard who was around, the man then realizes Yuri just fainted and she's losing blood. Kei looks for her partner but only finds drops of blood. Yuri then wakes up in just a shirt in the house of the man who saved her, Daniel Sezar, a con-man who takes money from wealthy men every few years and who is presumably after Mahogany now.

Kei complains to Gooley about the mission but he sticks to his orders. Kei then receives a call from Yuri, who is now allied with Daniel and plans to help him scam Mahogany. The kingpin is going to be conned by the trio into buying Planet Heldora (the supposed worst planet in the galaxy) for thirty million credits. This is convenient for the Angels, because that means Mahogany is going to go down as well as his new drug development.

At a club, Kei dresses up as a male bartender and gives Mahogany a note that contains information about a supposed meeting regarding gold at a specific location he must go to. This catches the kingpin's interest and he obeys. The kingpin is welcomed by Daniel, a crossdressed Kei and Yuri dressed as an Indian princess, surrounded by gold Indian statues (some look somewhat buddhist-like as well).

Things seem to be going well for the trio, the kingpin has fallen into every single one of their tricks. They finally arrange a meeting for the exchange of the fake gold that's gonna be given to the now desperate millionaire. Daniel also tries to seduce Yuri but she ain't buying it.

Mahogany and his men arrive for the exchange but right before things can wrap up he is informed by one of his minions (who was warned by Daniel) that this is all a scam. Daniel escapes with the money and Mahogany goes after him, along with the girls of course. Kei then uses a giant crane to catch the little thief. The Angels were already one step ahead, as they typically are.

As a final blow, Yuri shoots the briefcase with money the guys are after, negating both criminals the result of their illegal activities.

A good and funny episode that entertains even with somewhat familiar concepts. I like how the romance was averted and treated in a more teasing manner and seeing the Angels outsmart the two criminals was very rewarding as the double crossing by Daniel was very obvious. Decent and uncomplicated outing.
