A serial killer is stalking and stabbing young women in condos, so the Lovely Angels must go incognito and pose as normal residents in an apartment building to catch the criminal. Yuri takes a shower at the beginning and shows us the first and only taste of nudity in the whole series. The first part of this episode is actually quite sleazy and graphic, not only showing naked women but also blood and violence, it's like an exploitation horror film.
Anyway, Kei doesn't like living at the condo as it's a rather humble and small apartment, she also has problems with a bird Yuri's boyfriend gave her. When the girls read the killer's file they realize he only goes after beautiful young women who live in condos and marks a letter on their forehead, the only key word that fits his description is "salesman."
A salesman then rings the doorbell and the girls sit down with him, suspecting him to be the killer. The gentleman tries to sell them a laser knife and does a stunt where he cuts off his artificial finger.
Suddenly, another man rings the doorbell. It's another salesman, a young man who sells specialized padded bras with a grope deterrent function. The guy plans to rob their jewels but Kei catches him. They accuse him of being the killer but he denies it.
The doorbell rings again, Kei goes to answer it and it sounds like she's in trouble but it's just a boy who tries to do some acupuncture on her, another salesman. The little guy is very strange, he's twelve years old, has artificial eyes and hates all women because they remind him of his mother, sounds like a serial killer alright.
A police detective arrives and begins to interrogate the suspects with the girls, trying to make sense out of the letters the killer left as well. Yuri then realizes something, all of the buildings are eight-by-eight and the letters are the first letter of the name of chess pieces, meaning that someone is doing a deadly real life game of chess with the condos as a board and the women as the casualties.
Yuri then reveals that the jakebird in the cage survived one of the previous murders and tries to use it to recognize the true murderer. The bird then attacks the detective, revealing him as the killer, the man isn't a detective but only pretends to be one.
He takes out a Freddy Krueger-type claw with blades and swipes at the Dirty Pair, ending up being knocked down by Yuri, closing the case after his arrest.
Fun little mystery whodunnit, never too obvious but never too delirious either, a perfect and logical conclusion with a clever set up. Light on action and very secluded, always in its single location but it gives you a decent "trapped in here" feeling throughout. The ideas aren't running out as the show gets a second air.
