Dirty Pair (1985) Retrospective - Episode 16: Leave It to Us! The WWWA Is a Wonderful Job

The Lovely Angels are persuaded to work on their day off with a bonus, offered by Gooley. They will function as bodyguards to the chairman of Yorozuya Enterprises at Planet Baham. The chairman isn't one of the typical suited men who greeted them, but a young green-haired lady named Sakurako, who inherited the company.

Sakurako isn't in any particular danger, she just wishes to travel to the big city and see it with her own eyes. The girls should be coming back at five o'clock to have a meeting with the President. Sounds easy enough, even a waste of time.

There´s some routinary city shenanigans, like when the heiress orders food from a stand but shows she's out of touch by paying with a large bill. They also have trouble with some biker dudes who anger Kei and she kicks their asses.

Kei about to start a marxist revolution.

Kei and Yuri become even more bothered by the assignment, but they begin to think that Sakurako takes a little too long in the restroom only to realize she escaped from them to roam around freely. The Angels report back to the suited men, but the plans are changed, Kei must now pose as the heiress for the evening.

Everyone unanimously refers to Kei as “vulgar.”

The redhead gets to enjoy the life of luxury but it's not as comfortable as she thought, making her more understanding of Sakurako´s reasons to leave. Meanwhile, Yuri searches for the rich girl in the city, which is convenient because a rival recognized her as the chairman of Yorozuya and plans to assassinate her.

Turns out Sakurako isn't just out there for pleasure, she wants to see the area the company will redevelop and get to know it. A sentiment far from the image of unserious princes she gave. After some murder attempts by a hired gunman, Yuri ends up securing her while traveling throughout the city, even causing havoc in a space-themed 3D Dome.

The clock is ticking and the time to meet the president is close. Kei trusts Yuri even if she is uncertain of her fate she is confident her partner is alive and will accomplish the mission, bringing the heiress back before it's too late. The evil corporate chairman who sent the killer after the girls is also about to meet the president and take this opportunity to his advantage.

However, Yuri arrives just in time and, with the aid of the biker guys Kei beat up earlier, she switches ladies and makes Sakurako arrive punctually, ruining the plans of the rival chairman. The Angels have done it again.

At the end, the girls finally have their day off and watch an interview with Sakurako on TV, who when asked what she would want to do if she were an average girl she answers a 3WA agent, surprising the Angels. Cute little final wink.

Tight narrative without loose ends even if it leaves some things underdeveloped or relies a little bit on one too many expository lines but that's a minor nitpick. Charming episode that while nothing radically different it shows a slightly more charismatic side of the Angels when contrasted with Sakurako.
